Qantas flights resume following security breach at Sydney Airport

LATEST: Qantas flights from Sydney Airport's domestic terminal have recommenced, following a security breach late this morning when two people entered the secure area of the terminal without undergoing standard security screening.

A Qantas spokesperson confirmed to Australian Business Traveller that 14 Qantas flights have been delayed and an estimated 2,000 passengers had to be rescreened after being evacuated from the terminal.

The delays will have a knock-on effect at the destination airports for those flights, causing additional delays which may ripple through to early this evening.

However, according to AusBT reader Paul Hardie on Twitter, the captain on his flight announced that it's likely that international flights will be delayed so that delayed Qantas domestic passengers can make their connection.

The Australian Federal Police have confirmed they are investigating the breach, although it's not known if the breach was accidental or on purpose.
